What You'll Do
Five Ways to Make a Difference
Organize classroom celebrations and activities that create lasting memories for students.
Share PTO news, events, and opportunities with your classroom families.
Be a welcoming point of contact and help build a strong classroom community.
Attend at least one PTO meeting per quarter as your classroom's voice.
Identify families who may want to get more involved in the PTO.

Your Role & Resources
The Role of a Classroom Parent
- Plan 1–2 classroom celebrations per year using your $200 budget — coordinate timing and theme with your teacher before spending
- Forward PTO newsletters, event flyers, and volunteer sign-ups to your classroom families throughout the year
- Be the first friendly face new families meet — answer questions, make introductions, and help people feel at home
- Show up to at least one general PTO meeting per quarter to bring your classroom's perspective to the table
- Keep an eye out for engaged families and pass names along to the PTO board when someone seems ready to do more
What Classroom Parents Are NOT
- Expected to fundraise or solicit donations
- Responsible for all classroom events
- Required to attend every meeting or event
- Alone — the PTO board is here to support you every step of the way!
Your $200 Budget
- Example Uses Pizza party, holiday celebration, seasonal craft, end-of-year party
- Event Approval Coordinate timing & theme with your teacher
- Reimbursement Submit receipts to PTO Treasurer by email
- Unused Funds Use it or lose it — funds expire May 31st
